Poka Yoke
Poka Yoke. Poka-yoke means-making the system/process mistake proof or error-proof so that defects generation can be eliminated at source or at first place, and can be easily detected and corrected. Poka-yoke (ポカヨケ, [poka joke]) is a Japanese term that means "mistake-proofing" or "inadvertent error prevention".
Translated as "mistake-proofing", poka-yoke aims to prevent defects in the manufacturing.
A poka-yoke is any mechanism in a process that helps an equipment operator avoid (yokeru) mistakes (poka) defects by preventing, correcting.
How do we use Poka Yoke in Lean manufacturing? Poka-yoke is a technique that helps to avoid mistakes in the manufacturing process. Poka-yoke can be seen as one of the three common components of Zero Defect Quality Control performed by Japanese companies (source inspection and feedback are the other two).
